Harnessing AI for ELT: An Exploration of Advanced Tools and Techniques

Abstract

As we traverse further into the digital age, the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and education continues to redefine traditional teaching methodologies. AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT have proven to be highly effective, not only in augmenting learning for students but also in alleviating the workload for educators, offering tremendous potential for lesson planning, materials creation, student evaluation, and assessments.

However, despite AI’s promise, its application within the educational landscape is often met with hesitation, primarily due to a lack of knowledge and experience with these new technologies. Moreover, the comprehensive application of AI in English language teaching is still a largely unexplored territory, with many educators unaware of the full extent of its capabilities and the vast benefits they offer.

This course is an essential step to bridge this knowledge gap. It aims to empower English language teachers by providing them with an in-depth understanding of how they can leverage AI, specifically tools like ChatGPT and others, to not only make their teaching processes more efficient but also to enrich the learning experience for their students.
