Course Overview

The ability to navigate emotions, build empathy, and develop interpersonal skills is critical for both students and teachers in the ELT context. This session is designed to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate gamified activities into their teaching practices.

Course Objectives

To highlight the role of emotional intelligence in fostering effective communication in the ELT context To familiarize participants with gamification principles and their application to teaching EI To demonstrate a selection of digital games that promote emotional regulation, empathy, and teamwork To provide teachers with practical skills for designing gamified activities To encourage reflective practice on the impact of gamification on student wellbeing and engagement

Learning Outcomes

Be able to identify and select appropriate digital games for teaching emotional intelligence Demonstrate the ability to design a gamified lesson plan focused on emotional intelligence Apply gamification techniques to create engaging classroom activities Evaluate the effectiveness of gamified activities Collaborate to develop a shared resource bank of digital games

Course Procedures

Introduction (30 minutes): Overview of emotional intelligence and gamification principles. Demonstration (1 hour): Walkthrough of digital games and tools. Discussion (30 minutes): Reflect on challenges and opportunities. Hands-On Activity (1.5 hours): Design a gamified lesson plan. Wrap-Up and Reflection (30 minutes): Share lesson plans and receive feedback.

Assessment Procedure

Submission of a gamified lesson plan Peer feedback during hands-on activity Post-session questionnaire Reflection on the session and sharing insights
